In order to show the care of our faculty and students for international students and make them more deeply experience Chinese culture, on the occasion of the traditional Chinese festival -- winter solstice, our college organized the "Winter Solstice Party of the college of Civil Engineering and Architecture " on the first floor of the college on the evening of December 20, 2019. Wang Zhuang, deputy secretary of the party committee of the college of Civil Engineering and Architecture, came to greet the students, expressed blessing, participated in the activities and take photos with the students.
The party was jointly attended by the faculty and students of our college, Chinese and international students got together and immersed in strong festival atmosphere. At beginning of the party, Meiwei Xue, the secretary of international education, explained the origin of the Winter Solstice and food traditions. International students showed a keen interest in Chinese traditional culture, learnt how to make dumplings, use chopsticks, write FU letter, understood couplets meaning and completed handmade lanterns. Zexiang WU, deputy director of the college international education office, and Dr. Ning FAN provided guidance and help throughout the party.
The party was a great success and achieved the desired effect. Students all expressed that it was an unforgettable experience. Although they were in a foreign country, they felt the warmth of family and had a deeper understanding of Chinese traditional culture.
